Arnold Overturf, Jr

Arnold Alfred "Skip" Overturf, Jr., 71, of Lincoln, Delaware, formerly of West Wyomissing, Pennsylvania, passed away Thursday, October 11, 2018 at 2:35 pm at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania surrounded by his loving family. Born in Reading, PA, Skip was the son of the late Arnold A. Overturf, Sr. and Lillian J.R. (Sweigert) Overturf. He and his wife, Marcia L. (Sell) Overturf were married for 48 years.
He was a 1965 graduate of Governor Mifflin High School, where he was a member of the track and cross-country teams. Upon graduation, he began studying as an electrician before serving for two years in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. Skip worked at Alcon in Sinking Spring as an electrician in the maintenance department for 39 years before retiring in 2017.
Skip was a true family man; he was a devoted husband, father and grandfather. He loved spending time outdoors- hiking, backpacking and camping. He led an active lifestyle, taking up biking in recent years. A sports enthusiast, he enjoyed following his favorite Philadelphia and local teams. He was an active member of St. Luke's E.C. Church (New Life of Shillington), serving in the choir and on the Board for many years. His strong faith drew his family together toward the Lord.
In addition to his wife, Skip is survived by his children Amy Hudson (Todd) of Garnet Valley, PA; Kristen Faison (Quincy) of Weston, FL; Erin Kidd (Brian) of Milton, DE; and Jarad Overturf (Julia) of Plantation, FL and his nine grandchildren: Jordan, Jacob, Maya, Dylan, Zachary, Benjamin, Jonah, James and Everett Arnold Overturf. He is also survived by his sisters Janice Mechler (Terry) of East Greenville, PA and Karen Lord (John) of Mohnton, PA.
The family will receive relatives and friends at Bean Funeral Home (3825 Penn Ave., Sinking Spring) on Wednesday, October 17, 2018 from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm. Reverend Rick Reilly will officiate the Funeral Service at 1:00 pm. Interment will follow at Forest Hills Memorial Park.
