Arlene Smith

Arlene H. Smith, 78, of Reading, passed away July 6, 2009 at 2:05 PM in Reading Hospital & Medical Center where she was a patient since July 5th. She was the wife of Jackie C. Smith who passed away December 22, 2004. Born in Tamaqua on December 22, 1930, she was the daughter of the late Walter F. and Helen (Conrad) Shucavage.

Mrs. Smith was a 1948 graduate of Mahanoy City High School and a 1951 graduate of The Reading Hospital School of Nursing. She was employed as a registered nurse by St. Lawrence Medical Associates for 30 years. She was a member of St. John Baptist de LaSalle RCC, Shillington, and was a member of the Women's Bowling Association of Stuyvesant Senior Group and of Prime Time Senior Group.

Surviving are 4 sons, twin sons Michael J. Smith husband of Patricia E. Smith of Kenhorst and Timothy L. Smith of Muhlenberg Twp., Steven R. Smith husband of Alison E. Smith of Leesport, Jeffrey A. Smith husband of Michele L. Smith of Mooresville, NC, 10 grandchildren Amy Bortz, Jillian Lynch, Matthew Smith, Hope A. Genova, Joshua A. Smith, Shannon E. Smith, Kyle R. Smith, Daniel E. Smith Nicole L. Smith and Jack M. Smith and 7 great grandchildren.
