Aris Kouvaros

Aris M. Kouvaros, 88, of Sinking Spring, passed away on Friday, November 3, 2017 at Phoebe Berks. He was the beloved husband of Maria (Menas) Kouvaros with whom he shared 67 years of marriage. Born in Reading, PA, he was the son of Froso Apsokardu. Aris was a member of St. Constantine & Helen Greek Orthodox Church. He was a 1948 graduate of Reading High School and served in the Army for 2 years from 1952-1954 during the Korean War. Aris received a B.S. degree from Kutztown State College and a Master's degree from Temple University. During his 35 years of teaching in the Wilson School District, he served as a guidance counselor, Assistant Senior High School Principal, Sr. High School Principal, and Social Studies Department Supervisor. Aris also served briefly as an Administrative Assistant to the Superintendent in the Muhlenberg School District. Aside from his professional career, he served several years in the Parish Council of St. Matthews Greek Orthodox Church and as a Sunday School Supervisor for 25 years. He enjoyed jazz music, gardening cooking and most importantly spending time with his family who adored him. Aris was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather. In addition to his wife, he is survived by his daughter Iris, husband of Thomas Stidham, of Sinking Spring; son, Michael, husband of Anna Rita (Castiglioni), of Sinking Spring; son, Anthony, husband of Marvanne (Noll), of Sinking Spring. He is also survived by 5 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren.
