"It's fun to go away, but it's always good to come home," Ardelle would say after returning from a vacation or even just a day out of the house. A woman who never undervalued the comforts of home, Ardelle L. Herzog, 87, of Brecknock Township, went peacefully to her eternal home on Wednesday, May 11, 2016 at 11:07 am. She was the wife of the late Richard P. Herzog who passed away February 18, 2000. Born in Reading she was the daughter of the late Francis and Aravesta (Stufflet) Wagenblast. Mrs. Herzog was a member of Grace Evangelical Lutheran Church in Shillington and was a secretary/bookkeeper at Western Electric. She is survived by her children Suzanne A. Harteg, wife of the late Blaine M. Harteg, Jr. with whom she resided; Brian R. Herzog, fiancAC. of Sharon K. Bates of Reading and Melanie L. Emerich, wife of Jeffrey P. Emerich of Temple along with her grandchildren Christopher M. Gassert, husband of Gretchyn Gassert; Valeri S. Harteg; Dana K. Lantz; Brittany A. Herzog and Whitney A. Herzog and her great grandchildren Madisyn O. Gassert; Austin G. Gassert; Reece S. Lantz and Garrett D. Gehringer. Mrs. Herzog is also survived by her sister Bonnie L. Wieder, wife of Douglas Wieder of Shillington, along with many nieces and nephews and was preceded in death by her siblings Grace Harms, Francis L. Wagenblast, Jr., Harold Wagenblast, and Catherine Wagenblast.
Ardelle's life was one full of love: love for God, family, friends, beloved pets, her country, Christmastime, shopping, hot dogs, earrings, long drives, the beach, big band music, and much more. Above all, she will be remembered for her kind and gentle spirit, one that was never boastful or judgmental but simply grateful for life's blessings. Her family asks those who knew her to join them in honoring her by loving others unconditionally, as Ardelle did all her life.
