Anne Ahlquist

Anne G. (nee Sheaffer) Ahlquist, 86, formerly of Wyomissing Hills, passed away on Sunday, May 30, 2010 at Manor Care, Sinking Spring, where she had been a patient for several years.


Born in Lewistown, PA, she was the daughter of the late Warren L. and Agnes I. (nee Rice) Sheaffer.


Anee was a 1942 graduate of Lewistown High School. She was a past member of The Eastern Star-Birmingham Chapter No. 26. She was also a member of Advent Lutheran Church in West Lawn and was active in many of the different departments. She was involved in many volunteer opportunities, including the Berks County Literacy Council (tutoring mostly foreign students), Friendly Visitor, Meals-On-Wheels, and Big Sister. She was once Vice President of the Welcome Wagon of Reading and President of the Wursi Organ Club.


After the death of her first husband, U.S. Navy Commander Franklin E. Fultz, she was employed by Taylor Manor in Ellicot City, MD. After working there for two years, she moved to Pennsylvania and started a day care center for ages 3-5.


She is survived by children: Larry E. Fultz and Carole M. (Fultz) Reio; grandchildren: Robyn, Steven, and Stephanie; great grandchildren: Tyler, Rachel, and Nicholas.


There are also two brothers: Robert Sheaffer of Harrisburg, and John Sheaffer of Mifflinburg; a sister: Sara (Sheaffer) Golden of Chambersburg; and four step-children, William, James, David, and John from her second marriage to Willmar J. Ahlquist, who passed away in 1997. She was preceded in death by her son: Douglas Earl Fultz.
