Allen E. “Pat” Pettit, 90, of Exeter Township, passed away Friday, January 27, 2023 at 10:00 pm at Penn State Health-St. Joseph Hospital. He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Janice M. (Fish) Pettit. Born in Reading, Mr. Pettit was the son of the late Edward and Agnes (Wummer) Pettit. He was a 1950 graduate of Central Catholic High School and was a Staff Sergeant in the United States Air Force during the Korean Conflict. Mr. Pettit was a painter for Local Union #55 in Reading for 38 years retiring December 31, 1995. He was a life member of International Brotherhood of Painters & Allied Trades and was a member of Train Collectors Association since 1982. In addition to his wife, Mr. Pettit is survived by his children Glen A. Pettit, husband of MaryAnn Pettit of New Freedom, PA; Daniel J. Pettit, companion of Mary Klonis of Birdsboro and Laura M. Pettit, companion of Darren Mullen of Flying Hills. He is also survived by his grandchildren Megan McMurtry, wife of Mark McMurtry; Jonathan Pettit; Bridget Nelson, wife of Ian Nelson; his step-grandchildren Danielle Robson, wife of Chad Robson and Joshua Smith, husband of Michaela Smith and his great grandchildren Cambrie, Finn, Cohen, Oliver. Mr. Pettit was preceded in death by his sisters Lucille Bender and Mabel Gerhard.
Celebration of Life Tribute Service will be held at Bean Funeral Homes & Crematory, 6 Fairlane Road, Exeter Township, Thursday, February 2, 2023 at 11:30 am. Amy S. Landis, Celebrant will officiate. Interment will be held at the convenience of the family. The family will receive relatives and friends at Bean Funeral Homes & Crematory Thursday from 10:00 am to 11:30 am.
