Alice Southworth

Alice Mason Southworth, 93, of Newmanstown, passed away Tuesday, April 17, 2018 in her home. She was the wife of the late Nelson Southworth who passed away 1979. Born in Sellersville, Alice was the daughter of Edward Harkness and Ernestine Wachter.

She was a member of Saint Ignatius Loyola Roman Catholic Church. During WWII she had a range of jobs from working in a doctor office and making goggles for fighter pilots. She worked as a winder for Narrow Fabric for many years.

Alice is survived by her brother Thomas Harkness, 2 sisters: Ernestine Remp and Faye Sweigert, and sister-in-law Henrietta Harkness; her son James B. Southworth of Fairfax, Virginia and daughter-in-law Marybeth Southworth of Auburn, PA; and her 8 grandchildren: Susan, Cindy, Abigail, Rebecca, James, Amy, Jonathan, Mark and 9 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her son Paul B. Southworth in 1998, her daughter Dr. Patricia A. Southworth in 2008, and daughter Ann M. Southworth earlier in 2018.
