Albert Babb

Albert T. Babb, 86, formerly of Lincoln Park, passed away May 22, 2011 at 7:00 am in The Reading Hospital & Medical Center. He was the husband of Betty C. (Mengel) Babb. Born in Reading he was the son of the late Albert T. Babb, Sr. and Florence M. (Houck) Babb. Mr. Babb was a 1942 graduate of Reading High School, and was a salesman for Sunshine Brewing Company in Reading for 20 years the for Eagle Distributing Company in Reading for 28 years retiring in 1993. He later worked as a deputy clerk for Senior Judge Calvin Smith and Judge Stephen B. Lieberman in Berk County Court. He was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church, Mohnton. He enlisted in the United States Navy in 1943 and served in submarines for 4 1/2 years. A graduate of USN submarine school New London, he went onto serve on 3 different submarines one of which was the famous USS Guardfish-recipient of 2 Presidential citations. In addition to his wife he is survived by his daughters Cynthia L. wife of Michael C. Sensenig of Sinking Spring and Carol L. wife of John G. Tract of Wayne, PA, grandchildren Bryn, Samantha, Carly, Tyler, Matthew, brother Jack P. Babb of Lobachsville, PA and sister Ann L. Sweimler of Greenfields.
