Scott & Faniliy:
We are so very sorry that your father has passed. Al was our doctor but more than that a very dear & close friend as was you mother Betty. We would stop by to see Al at Elmcroft and he was so upbeat, gracious and enjoyed our visits.
Our deepest and sincere sympathies to your family. He will sorely misssed by so very many close and dear friends.
Donít grieve for me, for now Iím free.
Iím following the path God laid for me.
I took Godís hand when I heard the call;
I turned my back and left it all.
I could not stay another day
To laugh, to love, to work or play.
Tasks left undone must stay that way,
I found that place at close of day.
If my parting has left a void,
Then fill it with remembered joy.
A friendship shared, a laugh, a kiss.
Ah yes, these things I, too, will miss.
Be not burdened with times of sorrow,
I wish you the sunshine of tomorrow.
My lifeís been full, I savored much,
Good friends, good times, a loved oneís touch.
Perhaps my time seemed all to brief,
Donít lengthen it now with undo grief.
Lift up your heart and share with meó
God wanted me now, God set me free!

Dear Scott & Family
I have met many medical doctors over the years from the finest hospitals on the east coast. However, the one who touched my heart the greatest was your wonderful dad, Dr. Schartel. I am also remembering your late mother Betty, home room mother from Fifth & Spring Elementary School.

The Angels led you safely home
but you left some things behind.
Treasured gifts beyond compare,
Those of a special kind.
You left behind the ones you loved,
many cherished memories.
And from early dawn to setting sun,
each day our whole life through.
Our hearts will hold a special place,
for memories of you.
Remembering our favorite Doctor of all time - Dr. Schartel
Love & Prayers

Scott and family, Sorry to hear of the passing of your dad. Your dad was much more than just a dr. to me, he was a good friend and someone I looked up to. From my earliets memories whenever something was wrong we went to Dr. Al. Will always cherish the fun times we had at the bungalow. The boat rides and putting the docks in and out each year.My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family.

My deepest sympathy on the passing of your father and our beloved Dr.Schartel. Dr. Schartel and Betty were a team, the kind of team we will never see again. They were kind, compassioned and always made time to listen. The office waiting room often became a social gathering as patients met coworkers or friends also waiting to see Dr. Schartel. We were not only doctor and patients , but, over the years we became friends as well. Dr. Schartel and Betty will never be forgotten.
