Obituary:
Kenneth E. Heck, 87 passed away on July 5th in Masonic Village of Elizabethtown. Born in Reading, he was a son of the late George D. and Esther (Feichtinger) Heck. He was preceded in death by his wife of 56 years, Alice (Albright) Heck, who passed away in 2005. Heck was a dispatcher for the Atlantic Richfield Co., retiring in 1985. A 1943 graduate of Shillington High School, he served in the United States Navy during World War II. A 1st Class Seaman aboard the destroyer USS Emmons, Heck saw action in both the European and Pacific theaters. The Emmons took part in the invasions of Normandy, North Africa, and Okinawa. Heck survived the Kamikaze attack which sank the USS Emmons during its first battle in the Pacific Theater. Heck is survived by two daughters, Susan (Heck) O’Neil of Shillington, and Pamela (Heck) Rauh of Yardley. Other survivors include a sister, Louise (Heck) Dundore, of Gouglersville, four grandchildren, and one great-granddaughter. Heck was predeceased by his sister Fern (Heck) Kauffman and brother Frederick A. Heck. He was a member of Immanuel United Church of Christ, Shillington.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to Immanuel United Church of Christ, Waverly & Brobst Street, Shillington.

Friends may call from 10 until 11am.

Service:
Services will be on Wednesday, July 11th at 11am at Bean Funeral Home, 129 E. Lancaster Avenue, Shillington.

Cemetery:
Interment will follow in Fairview Cemetery, Shillington.
