SYLVIA WISE MEIER, born in Reading, PA August 09, 1915, passed away in Greenwich, CT on June 27, 2012

She was the daughter of the David and Anna Rudolph Wise. She was the wife of the late Arthur Meier, a Holocaust survivor from Germany who served in the United State Army as an Interpreter for a U.S. Prisoner of War Camp during W.W. II.

Sylvia is survived by a daughter, Susan M. Katz, wife of Irwin Katz, Miami, FL; a son Jeffrey B. Meier and daughter-in-law Jean of Stamford, CT, a grandson Adam Moss; four step-grandchildren; five step-great grandchildren; a sister Lillian Abramson and loving nieces, nephews and friends.

Deceased siblings Morris, Daniel and Rothermel Wise, Sarah Goldberg and Julia Ullman.

Sylvia was the administrator of Synagogues in Pottsville and Reading, PA and retired after 18 years of service as Administrator for The Board of Rabbis Of Greater Philadelphia, PA. She also served in Philadelphia as President Of The Israeli Chapter of Bnai Brith Women and as Chairman of the Rodeph Sholom Sisterhood B & P Women’s Group.

She also served as a volunteer in the Philadelphia Graduate Hospital and the Benjamin Franklin Institute Library. In Miami she served as a volunteer at the Baptist Hospital.

Sylvia was also a member of AMIT, Jewish Women International and is a life member of Hadassah.

Service:
Burial will be in Shomrei Habrith Cemetery, Cumru Townhip, on Monday July 2, 2012 at 2:00 pm.
